Preparing for Your Trip: One Child Matters does not require any immunizations; however, it is always wise to have your tetanus shot up-to-date. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov), “You should become familiar with what steps to take and who to contact in case of a medical emergency while you are traveling.” We recommend that 6 to 8 weeks before your departure, you consult with your physician, local health department or the CDC website www.cdc.gov/travel/ for information required and recommended immunizations for the country you will be traveling to. Some vaccinations require a series of doses spaced weeks apart.
Background Check: To ensure the safety of our children and determine eligibility to travel with One Child Matters, all travelers must complete a criminal background check. To process background checks, OCM uses a third party company. After completing trip registration, please send in your $45 to pay for your background check. The $45 is nonrefundable – if your background check is approved, the funds will be applied toward your overall trip cost. The results of your background check are confidential and all personal information is kept in a secure location.
Your seat is NOT reserved until we have received an approved background check and a deposit. A deposit can be made following registration by check or credit card. Checks made payable to One Child Matters can be sent to:
Medical Mercy Attn: Kelly Ramsland754 East Maria LaneTempe, Arizona 85284
If you are falling behind on payments, we will not drop you from the trip until you have missed TWO payment deadlines.
The total trip cost must be paid in full by the final payment deadline of September 15, 2015. So, please start your fundraising early!
Be sure to follow these instructions for ALL checks, both personal and those from friends and family:

All mission trip money is tax-deductible and therefore non-refundable as specified by the IRS. One Child Matters sends gift receipts at the end of every month. In the event a mission trip is cancelled by One Child Matters, we will credit any unspent funds back to the donor or work to reschedule the trip. If you are no longer able to travel on a mission trip or decide not to go, any money you or a donor have given cannot be refunded; however, OCM will allow any unspent funds to be used as a credit towards a future trip.
Next Steps: Once the team is complete, you will receive a trip orientation packet highlighting important dates, vaccine information (traveler is responsible for seeking medical advice about updating immunizations), fundraising ideas, plus more! Six weeks prior to departure, you will receive a trip book that includes a packing list, detailed schedule for your trip, general travel tips, etc.
Age Limit: The minimum age to participate is 18. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian; all applications are subject to approval.
